Today in the morning our school and all the other Manaiakalani Schools went to the Pt England reserve. Did you know it was the Hokulea that came in the morning so we went over to them and 2,000 kids from all the Manaiakalani schools had to welcome them to Pt England by singing a chant. Did you know that The Hokulea came from hawaii So they traveled 40,000 miles That has been a long way. After we sang the chant 8 times and then they said some speeches and we sang some maori songs. And then they had more speeches after our Waiatas. The last thing we did was shake hands and said welcome.

Year 5&6 camp 2015 25 anniversary
YEAR 5 & 6 camp
Did you know that last week We had our Year 5 and 6 camp,It was awesome. Year 5 and 6 camp happens every year where every kids gets an opportunity to sleep with their friends in a small tent. Have you ever gone on a school camp with your classmates?
At the Year 5 and 6 camp all the parent helpers and cooks were ready. We went for 3 days and 2 nights in the school field, In our tent we have 3 people, I had slept with Charles and Martin in the tent village. Camp is to help kids be responsible with their stuff and being brave to do everything.
Camp is fun you should realy go camp.!
My first highlight was kayaking with my friend his name was Lomio-Lee Gatua me and him buddied up and went kayaking. But first we had to learn how kayak before we could even ride a kayak. So Mrs Garden told us some tips she said to paddle you have to keep your right and left hand as you are holding a motorbike handle, then she put life jackets on us and we partnered up with a person and kayaked we also had boundaries.
My second highlight at camp was going to the Mangere pools on the last day, it was exciting. But first we had to clean our tent, pack our stuff, eat our breakfast, play some sport then we went on the bus to Mangare pools. When we got to Mangere pools we sat down and the teacher gave us fruit and we sang some mihis, after we went in to the poolside and had our morning tea I was full then we had to get changed into our togs and we swam. After swimming the whole day we were all tired we sat on the bus and we all had a good time swimming.
Mr Goodwin told us to write about our camp. So what me and my classmates did was we had write a detailed recount with hook and orientation. In our recount we had to write a Introduction, 1 paragraph was to write evry detail about camp. In the second paragraph we had to write about our first highlight. In our 3 paragraph we had to write about our second highlight. and last but not least our conclusion about how you felt about camp and what it means for the future.

Year 5 and 6 camp
WALT make connections across wide rang of texts
I have visited Ashely blog When she went to the year 5 and 6 camp. She was so exited on the first day, She woke up at 7.30 am On her blog she had wrote the first thing she did with her group was kayacking on the the pt england beach with Mr burt. She also wrote about safety.
What we was to go on Google search and find a elder persons blog post who has been to camp and summarise it. This paragraph that Ashley wrote was encouraging me more to go to the year 5 and 6 camp. I am also exited for this years camp.

Newspaper tower
WALT write a detailed introduction with hook
I think doing challenges are fun like making a paper tower and making chicken noodles. Doing challenges help you writ more story with imagination.
Guess what, today Mr Goodwin told us to make a newspaper tower he said the one with the longest tower will get a prize . I was nervous because the tower had to be tall and stand by itself I wanted the prize. Has Your teacher ever told you to make a paper Tower before
First what we did was get into our literacy class then Mr Goodwin said “ today your challenge is to make a paper tower with in”. So What we did was get 5 people in a group. The Materials needed were a scissor, 5 and a ½ sheets of paper and a little bit of duct tape.
Making time, What we did first was get the paper and roll it up then I did was get duct tape and stick it on the rolled paper. After that we put the rolled Newspaper it inside another rolled newspaper. After A wild we started to joint the rolls altogether then it broke, I was panicking then we only had 15 seconds to finish it off. Mr Goodwin said “ times up”.
After a wild it was judging time My group lost and another group lost as well. We were left with two teams, Rosalina and cameo’s team were left Mr Goodwin not tell so one person went and got a ruler and measured it and cameos team one.
